I found this test (March 2008) of firewalls on the internet.

Hope some of you find it useful.

I don't swear by IE. I've been using Firefox for a over a year now.

I've used Comodo in the past, but I dont seem to need it these days with Vista because the firewall seems to be reasonably effective... if anything does get in NOD32 will terminate it. I also do not use Internet Explorer because it is a spyware/malware magnet. Its like... hey look at me I want to get hit with some crap. I agree with the rest that Norton is one of the worst products imaginable... The list of its problems would take an article and its not in my interest to bother.

I use Comodo, so I was pretty happy about it.

I still think Sygate has the best personal firewall. There used to be a free version, but like so many good apps, it disappeared into the massive sucking void of Symantec. There is still a paid version for $39.

I've been using Commodo for the last couple weeks, and it makes Vista's UAC look like a slacker by comparison. While it's very informative, I really don't need to know when every program I use wants to access the keyboard, or every obscure dll on my system.

I've tryed all the major firewall's..and one day i found Comodo ..looking for free firewall's..i downloaded the first version's of Comodo...and i have never looked back!

All i would say that on install is that if you only want "firewall" then check the box for basic firewall with leak protection...then you won't be bothered with those pop up's!I'm using version 3.0 14.276..i have not updated yet to lastest version.this works well for me.also read that newest version had some "bugs"..so waiting for later to update.
